From the Grand Canyon

A Grand Canyon trip, and something to keep from it.

The road down from the South Rim comes through Williams, and from Williams we're half an hour west. Plan it for the end of the trip if you can: a fresh tattoo stays out of the sun and out of pools and hot tubs until it heals, and that's easier on the drive home than the day before a hike.

Grand Canyon trips: the questions

How far is Bert's Ink from the Grand Canyon?

Google Maps puts it at 1 hour 29 minutes and 81.7 miles from Grand Canyon Village in usual traffic: AZ-64 south to Williams, then I-40 west to exit 146.

Should I get tattooed before or after hiking the Canyon?

After, if you can. A fresh tattoo needs to stay out of the sun and out of the water until it heals. The aftercare sheet at bertsink.com/aftercare has the rest.

Coming from somewhere else? Williams, Seligman, Flagstaff, Prescott and Chino Valley, or the Route 66 stop.
